Well summer is here and so are the mosquitoes.

Thermacell products do a great job putting up an anti-skeeter force field.

I got a chance to review the Thermacell Patio Shield Metal Edition and here is how well it performed.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

During the colder weather we just can’t wait until the warm weather comes back. We can enjoy fishing, camping and just lounging in our own backyards. There is a major problem though attributed to the warmer weather. Mosquitoes are out for blood. They will drain you if given a chance. Those trips outside have just become the meal ticket for biting insects. Wish for winter now?

Options are stinky and possibly toxic sprays or the great products Thermacell offers. I would rather put up the 15′ force field around me than slather up with oily chemicals. When in a stationary position for any length of time Thermacell is really the only way to go for comfort.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

I received a Thermacell Patio Shield Metal Edition for review. This unit is a bit different from Thermacell reviews I have done in the past. While the 15′ mosquito protection zone is still there like the back country type units this unit is for the home. It resembles a drink tumbler and is more at home on a picnic table for a classy look.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

What does the Thermacell Patio Shield Metal Edition have to offer? Well it runs silent, there is no open flame and is weather resistant. Supplied with the unit was 3 mosquito repellent pads and one fuel cartridge. The mats last a maximum of 4 hours and the fuel cartridge is a maximum of 12 hours.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

The bottom of the Thermacell Patio Shield Metal Edition accepts the fuel cartridge. Just screw it in. There is some room in the bottom for spare mosquito repellent mats also.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

The top of the Thermacell Patio Shield Metal Edition holds your mosquito repellent mat. Just slide it in. When the mat turns a white color, remove it and replace with a fresh blue mat.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

The unit turns on by rotating the bottom to on. Wait 5 to 10 seconds and rotate the bottom to the start position. With a click your unit is now ignited. Look under the top of the unit under the mat and you will see a glow. That is the on indicator.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

Thermacell units as a whole are best used where you will be for awhile. Walking with one still works to a point but your force field cloud is going to be dispersed. That is also the case when it is very windy outside (and usually the bugs aren’t biting anyway).

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

Testing the Thermacell Patio Shield Metal Edition I found it is now my best friend when picnicking and cooking out in general. My wife and I tested it heavily while tending our garden and chicken coop and found even gnats and flies stay away. For camping it is a great asset to have also and fits in any regular cup holder on picnic chairs or a boat. I do really like that profile as it is handy to have anywhere. As all of the products that I have reviewed from Thermacell this unit just plain works!

In the summer of evil biting mosquitoes it is always a pleasure to watch Thermacell products in action. Mosquitoes, gnats and flies just hover outside of the protected area that I like to call the Thermacell force field. In really infested areas the site of this is really impressive!

Be sure to head on over and pick up your very own Thermacell Patio Shield Metal Edition to save your backyard cookouts and camp outs. Check out the Thermacell website for all of the great products that will allow you to get your summer back from the skeeter hordes.
