Thermacell is leading the fight against mosquitoes again this summer.
At the forefront is the new Thermacell E55 Rechargeable Mosquito Repellent.
I got a chance to test out the Thermacell E55 in Royal Blue and here is how it performed.

Lets face it most outdoors enthusiasts would agree that one of the biggest things that bugs them in the warmer seasons (pun intended) are mosquitoes. The little curses seem to love feasting on my blood. My wife has allergic reactions to their insidious bites. Lucky for us, along with everyone else that braves the biting woods and backyards of summer, is that Thermacell makes great products to combat them.

This brings us to the Thermacell E55 Rechargeable Mosquito Repellent. When this unit is turned on there is a 20′ wide zone of protection with no scent. Sick of spray on bug repellents and smoky citronella candles? This is certainly the way to go.

This summer fishing and camping at the cabin on a small lake on the edge of a swamp could be quite challenging. My wife and I push the on button, and forget about mosquitoes. It is always interesting to watch mosquitoes hang out just past the Thermacell exclusion zone. Nothing like having a portable anti-mosquito force field ready for even the most skeeter infested camp.

Included with the Thermacell E55 Rechargeable Mosquito Repellent is a 12 hour refill and a power charging cord. This is your standard USB cord that is easily accepted in a multitude of charging options.

Using the E55 is very simple. Charge the unit. Pull top off the E55 and place the refill (minus the protective cover) in the port. Replace top and push button on. Give the Thermacell a few minutes to warm up and apply the scentless repellent that covers a 20′ area. Now sit back and relax for up to 5.5 hours before recharging.

The testing of the E55 has been at the cabin and in the backyard garden. Both areas are great test sites for mosquitoes. Charge life and overall functions of the Thermacell E55 all are top notch. It still amazes me after all of these years using the incredible Thermacell products just how well they work. Wish I had them in my earlier days outdoors when trips were cut short and opportunities missed caused by the insane buzzing of biting hordes.
Helpful tip: have two units and use one at a time. This was when your 5.5 hour battery life is up switch to your fresh E55 while the other recharges. This way you will never be without mosquito protection.
In summary of the testing I can honestly say that the Thermacell E55 Rechargeable Mosquito Repellent is a great performer. I have not found a scent free mosquito repeller that has worked as well as the Thermacell line of products. If you like greasy, smelly creams and sprays or smoky candles around your campsite then enjoy. As for me though, I will take the scentless Thermacell products and truly enjoy my time outdoors.
Be sure to check out both the Thermacell E55 and all of their other great products on the Thermacell website. They truly will change the way you deal with the biting hordes this summer and beyond.
