If you are looking for an air rifle to change up your small game hunting experience the future is here.
I got a chance to test out the Gamo Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i 10 Shot Break Barrel Air Rifle and here is how it performed.

I grew up in the late 1980’s and early 90’s running the local wild areas with an old heirloom Daisy Model 25 pump action BB gun, and later a Crosman 10 pump BB/pellet rifle. That Crosman Powermaster 66 pellet rifle was light years in power and accuracy at the time compared to that old vintage BB gun. European starlings and other small pest critters dropped with well placed pellets at close range. I was hooked on air power way before I could even fire my first actual firearm.
Fast forward to the year 2026. Technology has turned the “old pellet gun” idea into a legit hunting weapon. Case in point, how about a single break action .22 caliber Gamo air rifle that can achieve 1000 feet per second using modern alloy pellets! Now add a removable 10 shot magazine that allows fast firing at game and targets without fumbling around to place the pellet into the loading port? How about a sound suppression system that makes the pellet impact actually louder than the air rifle’s report upon firing? Welcome to the world of the game changing Gamo Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i 10 Shot Break Barrel Air Rifle!
Before we examine how well the test Gamo Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i 10 Shot Break Barrel Air Rifle performed, let’s take a look at what Gamo has to say about it’s features:
Inertia fed. Market leading design. Introducing the third generation of Gamo’s exclusive rapid-reload technology. This patent-pending 10X GEN3i technology features a sleek and stylish design combined with our horizontal inertia fed magazine integration. The magazine indexes using the inertia force from the recoil of the air rifle—creating a smoother and more precise breech loading process. This is Gamo. This is state-of-the-art rapid-reload technology.
The Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i was built for shooters who want fast follow-up shots, real-world power, and a rifle that feels modern in the hands. At the center of it is GAMO’s 10X GEN3i system with a horizontal, inertia-fed magazine that keeps the profile low and the rifle more compact. Instead of a tall magazine sitting up top, this setup stays sleek and balanced—and the magazine advances using the rifle’s recoil, helping each pellet line up smoothly for consistent breech loading.
Comfort is handled the way it should be on an everyday hunting and pest-control rifle. The stock is made from automotive-grade, glass-filled synthetic, built to take weather and hard use, with rubber inserts on the forearm, grip, and cheek area to keep the rifle planted and comfortable during longer sessions.
On the firing line, the Viper also stacks the right upgrades. Whisper Maxxim sound suppression helps keep the report down by directing air through multiple chambers to reduce muzzle noise. The IGT gas piston replaces the traditional spring to deliver a steadier shot cycle with less vibration, which can translate into better control and more consistent accuracy. Add the two-stage C.A.T. trigger, and you get a cleaner, more tunable trigger feel that helps you break shots with confidence instead of fighting a heavy pull.
To protect your optics, GAMO finishes the package with the Recoil Reducing Rail (RRR)—a scope-mounting system designed to absorb the sharp recoil impulses air rifles can generate, helping extend scope life and keep your zero from wandering. Put it all together and the Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i becomes a well-rounded option for hunters and backyard shooters who want speed, refined handling, and the latest GAMO tech in one platform. A Gamo 3-9×40 scope is included.
Every Swarm Fusion Viper 10X GEN3i multishot pellet air rifle includes 10 shot magazine.

Also sent for this review were a tin of Gamo Red Fire .22 caliber pellets. Modern pellets also add to what an incredible high tech airgun platform can achieve in both accuracy and striking power.

Here is what these impressive looking airgun projectiles are all about right from Gamo’s website:
High-impact hunting pellets designed for maximum expansion and fast energy transfer on small game and pests. The polymer-tipped design helps deliver consistent flight, while the flared “mushroom” effect on impact is built to create a stronger knockdown performance. Ideal for hunters who want a hard-hitting pellet for close-to-mid range shots. Built for maximum knockdown power, the Gamo Red Fire .22 pellet offers deeper penetration, rapid expansion, and reliable performance for serious small-game and varmint hunting.
Experience match-grade accuracy, high-velocity performance and hydraulic expansion at point of impact with Gamo’s Red Fire Pellets. The diamond shaped hard polymer tip provides a true ballistic trajectory. The force of impact drives the diamond polymer tip into the cylindrical jacket material forcing it to expand outward—increasing the diameter of the projectile as it passes through the intended target (mushrooming effect on impact).
Un-matched stopping power with Gamo Red Fire ammo, the pellet engineered for hunters who demand instant, high-energy impact.
- Polymer-Tipped Design: Diamond-shaped red polymer tip boosts penetration and initiates rapid expansion on impact.
- Enhanced Accuracy: Precision-formed pellet construction ensures consistent flight and tight groupings.
- High-Impact Performance: Hollow-point body delivers powerful energy transfer for quick, humane results.
- Ideal for Hunting: Optimized for small-game and varmint control with reliable terminal performance.
Upon mounting the Gamo Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i 10 Shot Break Barrel Air Rifle with it’s supplied rifle scope and mount I was ready to hit the back acres. Pests are always on the prowl around our poultry flocks and a loud firearm frightens the birds upon firing. I was quite excited to see how my feathered friends would take to the sound (or lack of sound) of a modern Gamo Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i 10 Shot Break Barrel Air Rifle.

To the backyard range on the farm I went and set up both a paper target and an old chocolate milk container. Upon firing, I found the Gamo Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i 10 Shot Break Barrel Air Rifle to be ridiculously quiet. There was no report normally associated with a speedy air rifle. I was very surprised just how quiet it really is! Using Gamo’s Red Fire Pellets the pellets smacked the target hard! That sound was easily noticed on my part because of the sound suppression system. With a few shots and adjustments to the scope, and at 25 yards I was delivering one hole clusters for my groupings. With sighting in out of the way, I found random miscellaneous “targets” to fire at from different stances and at different ranges. Aiming a bit higher, 100 yard shots at an old steel burn barrel in the back of the property were instant successes that rang true in sound. My pellet gun as a kid never did that!

The Gamo’s Red Fire Pellets function great in the detachable magazine. All testing during this review proved to be exceptional in outcome. My only regret is Ohio’s squirrel season is next September and it is quite a while before I can target my favorite fox squirrels (or chicken of the trees). Meanwhile, targets, pop cans and vermin better lay low this summer because this airgunner is ready to dish out accuracy, power and speed of loading!

If you are looking for an air rifle that is nothing like the one you had as a kid and can reliable take down small game and is an absolute joy to fire, the Gamo Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i 10 Shot Break Barrel Air Rifle with Gamo’s Red Fire Pellets is quite an eye opener. Also, in many areas airguns are not considered “firearms” so it might open up a whole new fun of even shooting in your backyard. Check all laws and rules before you try it though in your area.
I highly recommend the Gamo Swarm Viper 10X GEN3i 10 Shot Break Barrel Air Rifle with Gamo’s Red Fire Pellets to say the very least! This review for me was quite an eye opener to what a modern air rifle can accomplish.
