Are you looking for a way to get more accuracy, velocity and range from your handgun?

I got a chance to test out the Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns and here is how it performed.

Decades back when the Mech Tech conversions were invented and brought to market I thought it was a really great idea. Utilizing a 1911 handgun lower supplied by the user, you could fire those big hard hitting 230 grain .45 caliber projectiles much more accurately. Well, Mech Tech Systems now has many variations for even handguns such as Glocks but I had to check out the original idea, a 1911 carbine! They sent me out a new Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns for a thorough testing.

The great thing about the Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns is it is made in the USA and will ship right to your door step. As I mentioned earlier, you supply the handgun lower. In this case, I used the lower from a previously reviewed TISAS DUTY SSR 1911 pistol.

Mating the Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns and the 1911 lower was a breeze. It literally can be done in seconds, thereby creating a hard hitting, small carbine.

As for accessories on the Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns, you choose what you want the build to feature.

How about a M4 adjustable stock? That is just one option the Mech Tech Systems CCU Model offers to the purchaser. It is all built to what you custom order. The threaded flash hider is also a great option to add to your custom ordered build.

What about a red dot/green dot scope? Might as well add that too right? Indeed! Well I added the UTG 4.2″ ITA RED/GREEN DOT SIGHT W/QD MOUNT and fits perfectly.

I do really appreciate back up iron sights on a long gun. The SUPER SLIM FLIP UP SIGHTS – FRONT & REAR are a great add on to your build. They flip down out of the way when not in use but can be flipped up quickly when needed.

With a red dot / green dot sight, iron sights can still be used. Just turn the power off to the electronic sight and go old school right through the sight tube itself. Another really cool way to use both sights is as a co-witness. The lit up dot works perfectly with the SUPER SLIM FLIP UP SIGHTS – FRONT & REAR. It is a great way also to check to be sure your original zero is still on after a bumpy trip on the trail.

The SUPER SLIM FLIP UP SIGHTS – FRONT & REAR are really out of the way when folded down.

When popped up, the SUPER SLIM FLIP UP SIGHTS – FRONT & REAR are very secure in place and offer two different rear peep sight aperture sizes at a quick flick. They certainly are great to have.

The Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns was ready to head out to the gun range. Note how everything is set up quite streamlined and handy. Just add ammo and you are ready to rock!

As for ammo selected for the review, I chose the cheaper aluminum cased CCI Blazer .45 230 grain full metal jacket ammunition for a real good reason. Some weapons systems absolutely hate aluminum cases, while other eat them up with no problems. I was quite curious on a blustery and snowy November day to also see not just how well the combination would do for functioning, but also in accuracy.

Sighting in the Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns was actually easier then many other firearm systems I have worked with. First shot was fired, and hit low on target. I adjusted the UTG 4.2″ ITA RED/GREEN DOT SIGHT W/QD MOUNT for higher elevation and fired another shot. After a couple more adjustments my shots started clover leafing on top of each other right where I wanted them. I then flipped up the SUPER SLIM FLIP UP SIGHTS and was surprised they were already dead on with my dot sight. Now that was a nice surprise.

After firing the Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns initially at boring paper targets I targeted an old wooden pressure treated 4X4 post piece I had left over from a garden project. That post spewed chunks of wood splinters as the big .45 ACP. projectiles tore through it. Everything fed and fired with no problems experienced. Thoroughly impressed? You bet I am!

If you are a 1911 handgun fan, I feel it is a good decision to order a Mech Tech Systems CCU Model for 1911 .45 ACP. handguns. They build it to your specifications and it would be a great addition to your home defense, plinking or even hunting inventory.

Be sure to also check out the Mech Tech Systems website for other models that handle handgun lowers of various makes and many different calibers to choose from. I highly recommend them.
