Right out of the shipping box I took a look at the instruction manual. Within a few minutes I had the pour arm assembly on the RCBS PRO MELT-2 and I was ready to test it out.

Testing day arrived for the RCBS PRO MELT-2 when Ohio summer’s 95 degree weather and the intense thunderstorms were on pause. Always cast outdoors or in a very well ventilated area.

I always add a pan under a lead pot to avoid lead splatters on my table. This is a good practice to follow.

The RCBS PRO MELT-2 is ready for up to 25 pounds of lead. The opening is also wide enough for easy ladle pouring if you choose to use it that way also.

All plugged in and ready for choosing my preferred temperature setting. The RCBS PRO MELT-2 is quite user friendly.

After letting the ingots melt and after fluxing we are ready to start casting.

The RCBS PRO MELT-2‘s handy swing lid keeps heat in and debris out. It also makes a great spot to set your bullet mold to heat up before casting or during a quick break.

While using the RCBS PRO MELT-2 I found after the lead is melted the RCBS PRO MELT-2 holds your set temperature well. The pour spout fits molds perfectly and avoids a big mess that is common with the competitor’s lead pots. The RCBS PRO MELT-2 allows for quality casting of your favorite lead projectiles or even fishing sinkers if you choose.

When your casting is done for the day, dial back the temperature control to 0 degrees and give the RCBS PRO MELT-2 time to cool to 160 degrees before unplugging. This allows the inside fan to cool the RCBS PRO MELT-2 correctly.

What are my overall thoughts on the RCBS PRO MELT-2? I found it to be extremely easy to use and the temperature setting to be spot on and very handy. If you are looking for a great lead pot, the RCBS PRO MELT-2 is highly recommendable. As with all RCBS products, they stand behind them and you can be well assured of quality.
