Books still have a place in the gun lover’s library.

Here are my top 5 books that will help out the gun enthusiast and handloader.

It is not a real surprise to most that I love books on hunting, guns and the great outdoors. I own books that are around 100 years old, and I have modern ones. I find it educational and intriguing to look through vintage books and see how the times have changes in comparison to the new books. When researching load data, stay modern and safe. These new books do a great job at keeping you up to date.

  1. LYMAN 51ST RELOADING HANDBOOK

This reloading manual has the most current up to date information for the reloader and cartridge enthusiast. With recipes for popular and even older cartridges, it is my go-to when researching for load data and comparing cartridges.

2. CARTRIDGES OF THE WORLD

Are you interested in everything tech about modern and even old school cartridges? Sit back, open up your current “Cartridges of the World” book, and investigate what construction and ballistics are all about. While I have at this point the 16th edition (as shown in the title image) I will be purchasing the newest 17th edition soon.

3. SHOOTERS BIBLE 116th EDITION

This great publication has been around a really long time for many reasons. From current firearm offerings to optics, it’s all in there. There is even a section in the back for cartridge ballistics. There is a reason they have labeled the cover “The World’s Bestselling Firearms Reference“.

4. LYMAN SHOTSHELL RELOADING HANDBOOK 5TH EDITION

We must not forget our favorite scatterguns! Stay up to date on what loading recipes for what new powders and components are available.

5. GUN DIGEST 2025 79th EDITION
