Hay bales can take a spark and roar into flames.

Setting a Tannerite exploding target on or in one is a really bad idea.

Witness these shooters set a hay bale alight with a Tannerite explosive target.

When you are setting up a Tannerite or similar exploding target take heed: hay bales make poor backstops.

YouTuber tcarpenter121 shared a video of exactly what happens when flammable hay bale is a makeshift backstop for Tannerite targets. After the shot, flames begin to soar and it is a mad dash to pull the hay bale apart and get the flames under control.

Always use due caution when using Tannerite targets or other flammable targets or ammunition. All it takes is one spark to start a destructive wildfire. Don’t be that guy.
