When is it fine to refurbish a broken down rusty relic?

Each weapon has a different worth but this one sure could use some help.

Witness the shotgun restoration that has everyone talking.

Everyone has a thought on restoring vintage weapons. Some weapons are worth way more just lightly oiled to keep anymore rust from forming. A good patina and honest wear can be a nice thing.

Enter this vintage double barrel shotgun. It really is a mess. What it needs is some TLC to keep it from turning into a pile of rusty dust. In this video by YouTuber Random Hands takes on a once nice vintage double barrel shotgun for restoration. Follow along and see the progress.

I found the restoration went pretty well except for the brass plate accents. I certainly would have used something else. What are your thoughts?
