Looking for a new semi-automatic shotgun?

Maybe one with detachable box magazine for easy loading?

The all new Black Aces Tactical Pro Series M Semi-Auto shotgun might be right for you.

A trip over to visit my good friends at Silverado Arms brought me face to face with my next review. It was the all new Black Aces Tactical Pro Series M Semi-Auto shotgun. The shotgun itself was supplied with two Benelli Mobil style choke tubes (skeet and full constrictions) and a choke tube wrench inside of a handy case. A five round detachable Saiga 12 style magazine was also included along with a piston for heavy loads.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

The piston is clearly marked “HEAVY” for use when you are firing a steady diet of magnum loads.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

The forearm and buttstock are decidedly on the beefy side and synthetic. They have a sure grip texturing for positive handling. A rubber buttstock pad cushions the shoulder for the heavy hitting loads.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

The Black Aces Tactical Pro Series M Semi-Auto shotgun is also charging handle ambidextrous. The cut out on the left side of the receiver allows the charging handle to be removed from the right side and placed there instead. In this manner your right hand never leaved the stock grip and your left now can charge the shotgun.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

The operating system of this semi-automatic shotgun is just a little similar to the earlier Saiga 12 style shotguns without a last shot or manual bolt hold open feature. If using this shotgun at a range be aware to place something in the chamber to hold the bolt open when not firing. Range safety rules most times are critical of leaving the action open when not firing so all may see it is “safe” and unloaded.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

The safety is much like that of an AR-15 style weapon. It is the classic lever on the left side of the receiver that is thumb operated. If you are used to the AR-15 platforms this safety might just be a favorite of yours. The Saiga 12 style detachable magazines are held in with a beefy lever that has “ears” to make it truly ambidextrous also.

The business end of the Black Aces Tactical Pro Series M Semi-Auto shotgun. The removable choke tube installed is a modified constriction. That certainly is a good all around choice for small game hunting. The three line cuts in the choke tube denotes it’s identity.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

For testing not only was a five shot detachable magazine supplied but also a two, eight and ten shot magazines. The two shot magazine loaded with one shell in the chamber makes the shotgun legal for hunting in three shot restricted areas and Federal migratory bird hunting. That certainly is a very handy magazine to have. The eight and ten shot magazines cover fun and home defense.

How does it shoot? In my testing the Black Aces Tactical Pro Series M Semi-Auto shotgun ate anything I fed it with gusto. I first started out with lighter loads and took a blast at a Triumph Systems Yeti Target. For the birdshot defense load fans or small game hunters at fifteen yards the #7.5 lead pellets sure made a mess. That would certainly sting an intruder or drop a dove in mid air. Better yet the action functioned flawlessly ripping through a couple boxes of these bargain light loaded shotshells. Many other styles of semi-automatic shotguns I have fired cannot say the same and choke on light loads. So far most impressive.

THE CLASSIC WOODSMAN

Heavier more serious loads were next. Working my way through a variety of different makes and strengths of 2.75″ and 3″ magnum 12 gauge loads I also experienced no problems. This was even when firing the shotgun with the standard gas piston. If I was giving this shotgun a heavy diet of master blaster ammunition alone (say ultra heavy goose loads) I would switch to the supplied “HEAVY” gas piston for the longevity of this shotgun. Indeed heavy loads may batter any weapon apart after years of abuse and the “HEAVY” gas piston will keep those problems away longer. If you are using both light and heavy loads, no worries. I certainly would run both and not worry much about any possibility of damage. Below I tear up targets with this fast shooter on command.

From buckshot to birdshot the Black Aces Tactical Pro Series M Semi-Auto shotgun is ready to serve you dinner or protect you. I found it to be a strong built weapon that is certainly built to last.
