CENTURY OLD AMMO TESTED

CENTURY OLD AMMO TESTED

Just how long does ammo last anyway?

Well this shooter has 96 year old ammunition he is testing.

Witness how this almost century old pistol ammo does out on the range.

As a vintage ammunition collector this scene is a bit painful. It does however show just how long cartridges can still be viable.

Back when this ammo was only 96 years old this video by YouTuber Yukon12gauge was made. The cartridges are military spec. .45 acp ball ammunition. He actually tested out 20 rounds of the ammunition and found it still worked well enough but shot low.

The real test of how well old ammo will do is how it was stored. In a cool, dry area ammunition will last many generations. Put that same ammo in a hot attic or a wet basement and you are in for trouble. Store wisely.
